In the last 6 years with the open and complete collapse of the economy all known myths of "equal participation in the EU", "the country's economic development", "convergence of the economies of EU member-countries", "continuous growth of prosperity ", etc., etc. collapsed completely.

Today the status of the country, the working class and the people is very bad, worse than ever:
1. Extreme deepening of imperialist DEPENDENCE whilst stifling international financial control and strict supervision for decades by European Commission-ECB-IMF,
2. indebtedness of the country with a huge external ever-growing debt which is a loop neck of the country and younger generations,
3. deep protracted economic cyclical crisis of overproduction, dropping production, mass closure of businesses, falling exports, etc., etc.,
4. large and rapid increase of mass unemployment, the actual amount of around 2,000,000 and for young people reaches a percentage of 65-70%, with hundreds of thousands of people forced to migrate permanently creating an unprecedented haemorrhage,
5. beyond the intensive exploitation and annihilation of all the conquests of the workers, there were: a large reduction of salaries and pensions, unprecedented cuts in social spending (health, education, etc.) And huge increases in taxes and prices, etc., which led to a great sharp deterioration of the situation of the working class and the people and lasting deepening of the process of absolute misery of the proletariat,
6. restrictions on democratic freedoms, deepening fascistation and dangerous rise of fascist and Nazi-fascist forces ("Golden Dawn" -LAOS etc.).

Despite the above and although, both basic and key issues of the struggle of the working class and the country which are directly and closely tied with the EU: that of DEPENDENCE and the attacks-measures against the people, have extreme worsen: ie.

first, with the constant deepening of DEPENDANCE has major negative impacts on the country, but also the continuous provocative interference in its internal affairs on all levels, even in the current election campaign, (see statements by Juncker, Moscovici, Schaeuble, et al. )

second, with durable continuous unpopular measures, not imposed only by the local capital but also directly from the EU,

NONE of the political parties, bourgeois and reformist, is not in favor of Greece’s immediate exit of Euro-EMU-European Union

In contrary ALL the bourgeois parties are in favor of Greece’s STAY in imperialist European Union, and in EURO-EMU and propagate consciously, serve the interests of the EU imperialists with misleading MYTH-fantasies about "equal participation" (!) of the country in the "pit of lions" of the powerful European monopolies. At the same time the propagate that Greece leaving the Euro-EMU-EU will be a "major disaster" (!).

ALL the reformist social democratic parties ("K" KE-SYRIZA, etc.) and the extra-parliamentary organizations follow the same strategic choice of the EU monopolies and the local capital.

It is not only SYRIZA which supports the country STAY EURO-EMU-EU, but also the "K" KE: “A solution outside the euro and return to the drachma in the present circumstances would be catastrophic” (A. Papariga, “Rizospastis” 31/5/2011, p.6)

Moreover: the leaders of the "K" KE definitively renounced the anti-imperialist struggle for the overthrow of deppendance.

In order the working class and the workers to defend their class interests against the attacks of the local and foreign capital (EU, etc.) they have to fight against capital and local governments but also EU in conjunction with the struggle against imperialist DEPENDENCE generally, particularly that of the EU and for the here and now, EXIT of Greece from Euro-EMU-EU.

Alongside they have to fight against nationalism and fascism

PEOPLES OF TURKEY SAID; ‘PEACE AND DEMOCRACY’

We have just had the elections for the President of the republic - the second of three important elections - and the analysis of the results from all different perspectives will follow. The election process has been without regard for basic democratic criteria from the beginning and Prime Minister Erdoğan won with a 51.8% majority. AKP and its supporters are trying to show this as a victory confirming that the only choice for the country is AKP. The CHP voters protesting their party’s choice by not voting and other voters boycotting the elections contributed to Erdoğan receiving the critical level of vote that was enough to win this election. This is by no means an absolute victory for Erdoğan. The improvidence and the boycott of the elections by some left sections have handed the presidency to Erdoğan.

Considering that during the local elections it was mostly Erdoğan rather than his candidates that fronted the campaigns, there is no significant increase in the votes he received. Erdoğan secured an arithmetical rather than a political victory, using the advantages of being in office; using the resources of government finances, governors, district governors, local authorities, businessmen, media, etc. For this reason, the Presidency he narrowly secured might be legal but does not ensure legitimacy in the public eye.

The candidacy of İhsanoğlu, supported by the CHP-MHP political front but in reality representing the same ideological origin as Erdoğan, failed to meet the demands of the public. It has been proven that the tactics of “unity against Erdoğan, no matter what” has no significance in politics, that the formula is wrong.

Co-chair of HDP Selahattin Demirtaş has, representing democratic and peaceful organisations in these elections, without a doubt doubled votes received in local elections. This has shown that with his political line in supporting the workers’ and the public’s demand of democracy, peace and freedoms, Demirtaş has met the public demand to become a political agent. Demirtaş’s success in receiving votes very close to the threshold is a result of the efforts for democracy and peace by the workers’ movement over the years, and the result has increased the responsibilities of this movement.

The massacres, agitated sectarian conflicts and identity issues in the Middle East have created a greater need both to strengthen the anti-war movement and to increase solidarity among the nations of the region. It is not possible for any other party or constitution to show a tendency to solve these issues.

On the other hand, the problems faced by all identities and sections of society, denounced by problems in the workplace, assimilated, ignored and oppressed are intertwined. The possibilities for candidates and parties with real and clear solutions to problems of the public have been demonstrated to all political parties by the level of votes received by Demirtaş.

The liberal-conservative policies of AKP government and the new President Erdoğan seem likely to persist on enslaving workers, spoiling natural and historical treasures, continuing inequality and increasing pressure on women and reactionary ignorance of identities and beliefs. From this perspective, the duty to unite and develop the struggles of all the oppressed and exploited sections of the society is still very current.

In short, the message from this election has been to continue the struggle. We call on all workers, peace and democratic forces to unite and struggle together.

On the European Elections

The European elections in Greece were held under conditions of austerity , mass unemployment , people's misery and enhanced national dependence on the imperialist centers and multinationals. In this election , abstention remained stable at a high percentage (over 42 %) .

The accumulated resentment , social protest and anger against government policies and government parties (ND : 22.7 % , PASOK : 8% , etc) expressed in electoral victory of SYRIZA (26.5 %). But this victory was neither a corresponding mass social protest or sweeping.

SYRIZA supported and supports the policy of theory of "a better EU nations " and thus initiated and election .

The party of "K" KE got low percentages (6.1 %) confirming the deadlocks of it general disruptive and decadent presence.

Particularly worrying is the stabilization of the nazi-fascist Gold Dawn, which got a significant proportion (9.4 % ) and became the third party of these elections.

It should be noted and appreciated that politically; due to the line of compromise and sectarianism of the " left " parties essentially not entered strongly in the election process the central problem of Greece: the enhanced dependence on the imperialist centers : the EU, the Eurozone and the euro .

The Movement for the Reorganization of the Communist Party (1918-1955) called for a boycott of the elections simultaneously displaying the slogan of DIRECT WITHDRAWAL of Greece from Euro - EMU -EU emphasizing the struggle against imperialist dependence, fascism , racism and nationalism.

Labour, Democracy and Freedom Block gained a victory at general elections

General elections on 12^th June, created a picture, full of big problems. This picture shows that, coming days will not be easy for the ruling party, AKP, and other system parties.

The real factor, which increased the votes of AKP was not the support of the people to the AKP policies but dissolving at the rightist parties and taking their votes to the AKP. AKP became the center for the conservative-right. Contrary, AKP suffered a big defeat at the Kurdish region.
CHP (social democratic party), did not inspire confidence to the people as an alternative; “new CHP” and “K?l?cdaroglu wind” had finished before it started. CHP took 26 percent of the votes and gained 135 seats but immediately became a party with internal problems.

By taking almost 50 percent of the votes and gaining 326 seats; AKP seems to be successful at fooling the people but it’s difficult to say that upcoming days will be good for our people. Also, we do not need to be a fortuneteller to say that hard days waiting AKP.

This is because, Turkey became such a country with many problems on economy, foreign policy, Kurdish question, pressure and discrimination over the minorities, women issue, environmental problems, education and health system, unemployment and so on. Current deficit, internal and external debts, increasing at taxes, prices and inflation show that AKP government will steal one piece of people’s bread everyday.
Also, AKP government, which played a democracy game by patching the Coup Constitution with a referendum, could not put rising Kurdish movement and labourers’ struggle off with vague promises.
We, Labour Party, had an approach to consider taking democratic steps for workers and labourers, Kurds, Turks and all peoples in Turkey. Since the beginning, we have been insisted on uniting all powers struggling for labour, peace, democracy and freedom to form an alternative against AKP and other system parties. As a result of this work, we participated the elections with independent candidates under the flag of Labour, Democracy and Freedom Block. The political party of the Kurdish movement in Turkey (BDP) and we (Labour Party) were the main powers of this block. Also there were 16 parties and organisations in this Block.

Ex-president of the Labour Party, Abdullah Levent Tuzel was the independent candidate of the Block from Istanbul, the biggest city of Turkey. There were almost 60 independent candidates especially at the Kurdish region of Turkey and some western cities like Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara (the capital), Mersin and Adana, etc.

And more than 40 cities, we participated elections as the Labour Party (EMEP). And at these cities, members of the block supported EMEP as the party of the Block.

Finally, despite all anti-democratic election laws, 10 percent threshold, arrestings, shootings (2 Kurdish child and a retired teacher killed by police during election campaign period) the real winner of the elections is Labour, Democracy and Freedom Block. Our ex-president Abdullah Levent Tuzel elected as MP from Istanbul with 143 thousand votes. Totally, with 36 MP, this Block showed that it is a public movement. Also, with 11 women MP, Block showed a different approach from other parties. With candidates from all nationalities (Turkish, Kurdish, Syriac) and all sects, this Block became the real opposition force of the struggle for the democratic constitution and Democratic Turkey.

All labour, democracy and progressive forces in Turkey should analyse the results of this election carefully and unite their power in this Block.

EMEP: About the upcoming elections in Turkey

In 12^th June, there will be general elections in Turkey. Because of the 10 percent threshold we participated the elections with independent candidates under the flag of Labour, Democracy and Freedom Block. The political party of the Kurdish movement in Turkey (BDP) and the Labour Party (EMEP) are the main powers of this block. Also there are 16 parties and organisations in this Block.

Labour, Democracy and Freedom Block has presented its elections manifesto, as follows;

DEMOCRATIC SOLUTION AND PEACE AT THE KURDISH PROBLEM

The Kurdish question, where no one demands a choice except a democratic, peaceful solution, must definitely be solved within this period. It is now not a promise but a task to review the past by consulting our consciences and to stop the blood still poured because of the Kurdish problem.
When people are so disposed and hopeful about peace, we will not let the war begin again for AKP's (ruling party) votes and interests. We will take initiative for a lasting peace and we will display the two faces of the AKP, which on one hand feeds from conflicts and on the other hand declares everyone except itself as warmongering.
None of us has any endurance left for a war to last 30 years more, for a single life to be lost, for the wealth to be lost. The power in particular, all circles must set their political and economical rents aside and display a will of solution with an intimate approach for the constitution of a lasting peace that the Turkish society has longed for many years; the demands and expectations of the Kurdish people must be taken into account and the three-year old talks in Imralı must urgently be turned into a negotiation process. The ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), just like all the powers that insist on the impossibility of a solution and subject the Turkish society to war, conflict, pain and tear for economic rents rather than people’s living together in peace and brotherhood, will be forced by us to pay the price before history. We will introduce the solution with our own power and determination and without hoping for help from the power for the solution.

ECONOMY

Central, regional and local mechanisms will be created to provide the supervision and participation of producers, consumers and employees outside of the government in the economy management through professional groups and civil society organisations;
For the development of industrialisation, agriculture, animal husbandry, science and technology on the basis of political and economic democracy in accordance with the society’s general interests, the targets will be the participation of the society in the economic life through cooperatives and modern democratic aggregate enterprises where employees also take part in return for their labour;
Development projects will be created with the participation of Local and Regional Authorities and Civil Society Organizations, Regional Development Centers will be established to eliminate regional disparities with certain intense investments, a Central Development Fund will be established to be transferred to the depressed areas.

EQUAL AND FREE SOCIAL SECURITY FOR ALL

Low-income families will be supported by social benefits; the homeless will be taken under protection and security,
Street children and orphans have substance dependence and live under poor conditions likely for all kinds of abuses. Our alliance will establish centers for these children where they will be provided with accommodation, education, guidance and health care,
People with old-age and disease cases requiring special care will be included in the social insurance,
An effective fight will be given against illegal employment; disincentives will be applied for the inclusion of all employees within social security.

CONSTITUTION

We will all together issue the new constitution which doesn’t impose any ideology and describe the nation and citizenship on an ethnical basis, restricts the powers of the state, predicated on individual-collective rights, sides with labour, a gender libertarian constitute that shows the same respect to the nature and the human being and protects all separate cultures, beliefs, values of Turkey.

DEMOCRATIC AUTONOMY

We regard the Democratic Autonomy, which means democratic self-government, as the reinforcement of the qualifications appropriate to the democratic republic.
A radical reform must be made in the political and administrative structure for the actualisation of the Democratic Autonomy, which will be the assurance of democratic union and the model of direct and participatory democracy, not of division and deterioration as asserted. Besides the official language Turkish, regions will use other second and third languages (like Kurdish) according to their specific needs.

SUPPORTS FOR THE BLOCK

Independent candidates of Labour, Democracy and Freedom Block have been supported by hundreds of intellectuals, academicians, writers, singers, producers, actress, and journalists. Many NGOs, workers confederations and trade unions also announced their support for the block’s candidates.

Also, former Palestinian guerrilla commander Leyla Khaled came to Mersin to support Labour, Democracy and Freedom Block candidate Ertugrul Kurkcu. Addressing the crowd on the feast organized by the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Mersin Branch, the long time activist Khaled said; "We share the same struggle. If I am here with you today is because I see your struggle as my struggle. We will be witnessing the joy of the victory on June 12."

OUR PRESIDENT IS AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE

The ex-president of the Labour Party, Abdullah Levent Tuzel is participating to the elections as an independent candidate of this Block from Istanbul, the biggest city of Turkey. He used to resign from the presidency of EMEP in order to be an independent candidate. Tuzel was an independent candidate from Izmir in the 2007 parliamentary elections but was not elected. There are almost 60 independent candidates especially at the Kurdish region of Turkey and some western cities like Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara (the capital), Mersin and Adana, etc.

At other cities, more than 40 cities, we participate to the elections as Labour Party (EMEP). And at these cities, members of the block will support EMEP as roof party of the Block.

Results of the presidential election in the Ivory Coast: Respect the popular will, No to reactionary civil war!

After ten years of a social-political crisis that has led to the pauperization of the popular masses, and five years of equivocation, the presidential election in the Ivory Coast has finally been held. According to official figures, participation has been heavy (83% in the first round and about 81% in the second). The results made public by the Independent Electoral Commission and confirmed by the UN delegation in the Ivory Coast gave 54.1% of the votes to Alassane Ouattara and 45.9% to Laurent Gbabgo. However, the Constitutional Council has unjustly declared the elections in 7 regions void and declared Gbabgo the winner. According to our observations, Alassane Ouattara had the support of the voters. The arguments given for the “presidential majority” supporting Laurent Gbabgo and rejecting the results do not hold weight. The Constitutional Council has not been a judge in the elections, but a supporter of Gbabgo. We will soon speak about the disagreements of the protagonists with regard to the results.

The electoral struggle for the presidency has ended with the logically declared victory of Alassane Ouattara. But the rejection of the results of the ballots by Laurent Gbabgo has led to two presidents of the republic being “invested” and two governments. The threat of confrontations up to the unleashing of a civil war is real.

The Revolutionary Communist Party of the Ivory Coast (PCRCI) is convinced that a civil war would be disastrous since it would only aggravate the situation of the popular masses and of the whole country, and strengthen imperialist domination. It is of the greatest importance that everything be done so that the popular will is accepted by all the protagonists. For our part the PCRCI will make every effort to avoid a reactionary civil war that is on the horizon. All actions that attempt to divide the people of the Ivory Coast, to incite them to tribal and racial hatred and xenophobia must be fought and rejected.

At this time the most important and most urgent thing is to do everything to make everyone understand the need to respect the will of the majority shown in the ballot of last November 28 and thus avoid a reactionary civil war.

Therefore, the PCRCI calls on the peoples of the Ivory Coast to say No to fraud, No to reactionary civil war and adventure. We call on the peoples to form committees of struggle against fraud and against the incitation to reactionary civil war. Let us take the road to a better future, that of developing the revolution, which will reconcile Ivoirians with each other.

Social Democracy strengthens its grip

Parliamentary elections were held in Norway on September 14^th. The government since 2005 has been a so-called red and green coalition between the traditional, Social Democratic Norwegian Labour Party (Arbeiderpartiet) and its junior partners; the Socialist Left Party (Sosialistisk Venstreparti; petty bourgeois, reformist left) and the Centre Party (Senterpartiet; rural petty bourgeois).

The following article was published by Communist platform the day after the election.

As no true alternative to the bourgeois parliamentary 'blocks' was to be found, and since a central task was to keep Fremskrittspartiet (Party of progress) ¹⁾ out of government, common sense resulted in an electoral breeze in favour of Arbeiderpartiet (the Labour party). This is entirely logical: Why vote for minor Social Democratic parties like SV (Socialist Left Party) ²⁾ and Rødt (Red) ³⁾ when there is a large one already?
The election conceals a growing public frustration: Despite a media offensive focusing on that every single vote would be crucial in a breathtaking battle between the two 'blocks', one out of four chose not to visit a polling station; this is the lowest turnout since 1927. Moreover, an as yet unknown number of abstainers made use of the opportunity to submit a blank vote at the polling place.
As expected, Fremskrittspartiet did well, collecting 23 percent of the votes. Playing up to xenophobia hand in hand with appeals to popular and understandable contempt of politicians (i.e. the bourgeois political system – translators note), was profitable. From a progressive perpective the outcome could have been worse, considering the opinion polls during the summer months. Nevertheless, the two open right-wing parties (Fremskrittspartiet and Høyre) are able to muster 40 percent support.

Although we are lacking available background figures that show the spread of votes between different classes and social strata, there is sufficient basis to say that a large proportion of the working class has rallied behind The Labour Party (AP) to keep Fremskrittspartiet out of office. AP have increased their votage on the whole. This is due to Aps vast campaign-machinery with support from the trade unions and their apparatus - as well as a skilled election campaign strategy where [the Prime Minister] Stoltenberg has been profiled as the unifying red and green architect, and not so much as head of the Norwegian Labour Party. With more than 35 percent of the vote DNA can be very satisfied. It is an impressive achievement by a party that has disbanded and neglected a wide range of the promises presented in the Soria Moria declaration (platform of the government) in 2005.

The bill for the success of the main Social Democratic party has been paid for by SV in particular. In some counties SV is almost halved. This is not solely the result of tactical voting, but clearly also a popular protest against this party's complete betrayal on the issue of NATO, on the Norwegian warfare in Afghanistan and when it comes to protection of the environment. Both of these two major questions – the imperialist NATO-warfare against the Afghan people and the struggle for the environment – drowned in debates between the contesting candidates for the post of prime minister and the question of alternative government coalitions. It served all the dominating parties well: the Labour Party, the Conservatives and FrP.

Parties that more or less attempted to put on the agenda the fight against poverty, the struggle against racist immigration policy and the fight for the environment, were severely punished. This is just as true for the (liberal) Left and Christian parties as it is for the Socialist Left and Red party. Venstre (bourgeois liberal left party) has been reduced to a tiny party and Lars Sponheim (the head of Venstre) lost his seat in parliament. Normally, we would have absolutely nothing positive to say about this anti-trade union liberal party. However, in the fight against racism and xenophobia Sponheim stood out firm and clear (especially confronting Fremskrittspartiet), and he issued loud warnings against the 'brown' (quote Sponheim) turn in Norwegian politics that is advocated by both the major 'blocks'. Concerning the firm attitude Sponheim displayed on this issue, leaving SV or Red in the rear, he and the Liberal party must be credited. A more mirky question is whether it was this outspokenness that inflicted the loss of votes, or whether the reason lies elsewhere.

The Rødt (Red) party has in this election is definitely placed itself as a new Socialist Left (as of the 70'ies), only in a more reformist and unfortunate manner. As a logical extension of this party's transition to reformism, Red vowed to support a so-called 'red and green' government, and thereby made themselves hostages to Social Democracy. Red put forward one single 'ultimatum' for supporting Stoltenberg, namely defending the existing pension for the worn-down and disabled (which the bourgeoisie plans to cut down on, as has been the case with other social pensions and benefits – translator's note). Someone must have believed that this 'tactical genius' would hand Red great appeal with the backing from the Confederation of trade unions, LO. Naturally, this didn't happen. Moreover, if one should accept the premise that Red should limit itself to one single ultimate demand to give backing to the government, this single obvious demand would of course have had to be the immediate withdrawal of the (around 650) Norwegian mercenaries from Afghanistan.

In a situation where SV has lost face completely after four years in government and might have been slaughtered by a truly revolutionary alternative in the elections, Red has been eager to achieve parliamentary 'weight' and mark distance to unspeakable socialist and communist ideals. In this manner, the Red party with a vengeance achieved to place itself on the sidewalk.

In the process of licking the wounds after this 'historic opportunity' evaporated, in spite of the fact that they carefully avoided to use naughty “no-words“ like class struggle, socialism or revolution during the election campaign, the time now has come for internal head-banging. Revolutionaries who have stayed put within Red, hoping that a success in the elections might give the left wing of the party a boost and make it possible to correct the rightist course, should now realize the realities: The Red vessel's hull is pervaded by the termites of Social Democracy, its rudder is locked in starboard position and the sails are torn to shreds by 'red and green' hurricanes.

Notes

1. This party is anything but 'progressive', it is a neo-liberalist, very US-inspired and zionist party which often has been compared to European parties like Front National in France and Dansk folkeparti in Denmark. It is a populist and extremely opportunistic party, even making use of former slogans from the 'old' Social Democracy. The racist card has been played slightly down in recent years in order to make the party more palatable for possible conservative coalition partners. At present Fremskrittspartiet (abbr.: FrP) is 'bribing the electorate' by arguing for much more public state spending – although primarily to the benefit of 'ethnic Norwegians'.
2. SV is result of an offspring from the old Labour party around 1960, based on the opposition to NATO and nuclear armament. Since 2005, the Party has (for the first time) been in a coalition government with the Labour party and the Centre party (with its main social basis among the petty bourgeoisie and in the rural areas). The chairwoman of SV, Kristin Halvorsen, has since 2005 been Minister of finance.

To boycott the elections by absenting decided the community of Grammatikos

Catholic abstention from the Greek parliamentary elections of October 4th decided the community of Grammatikos, so in this way to punish the two major parties on the decided construction of landfills.

As the newspaper "To Vima", says the residents of Grammatikos talk of "mockery" of both parties, New Democracy and PASOK.

The municipal council acknowledges that the abstention from the elections in Grammatiko doesn’t not affect the election results nationwide. It stresses, however, that enables the whole village, like a punch to send the message pitch tomorrow government.

RESISTANCE TO HUNGER, FASCIST TRANSFORMATION OF SOCIETY, CAPITALIST EXPLOITATION AND BRUTALITY
STRUGGLE FOR THE REORGANISATION OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF GREECE

The announcement of elections in October didn’t come “out of the blue sky”. The most non-existent prime minister and his government, the most reactionary government since '74, were both long political collapsed, while bankrupting the country with their extreme neo-liberal policy, long before the outbreak of the global capitalist crisis of overproduction.
The notice of election was merely a formal ratification of this collapse. But the irresponsibility of the incompetent Prime Minister knows no boundaries, since he has to go for elections at the same time with the European elections in June instead of loading the country with quite a few million Euros extra weights.
The Government of the monarch-fascist Right, the government of poverty, hunger, poverty, the Government of the multiple "economic supervisions" by the imperialists of the EU, the Government of hitting the remaining labor rights, further de-industrialization, the sell-off of all public property, the murderous attack against the youth revolt, racist pogroms against immigrants, widespread fascist transformation of society, of cohabitation with the fascists of LAOS and the "re-establishment of the state" by appointing murderers and thugs in the forces of repression, the government of spying, surveillance, cameras everywhere, invasion in individual liberties, the government of the offensive against what is left of public education and the university asylum, the government which is the killer of the environment with the wildfires for the sake of the big capital, the government of the daily scandals involving executives and in synergy with mafia crime, finally collapsed.

The imperialist EU prepares for a new, more painful round of "economic supervision" and in cooperation with the IMF and the local bourgeoisie prepares a worse wave of anti-labor attacks with premeditated unemployment-mammoth, with continued dramatic further reduction in the purchasing power of workers and poor popular strata, with plans for unprecedented measures which they already have announced and even the abolition of the 13th salary, initially to the public services.
This attack cannot advance with an already "dead" government.
PASOK that is party of the great bourgeoisie and tried, obedient servant of the imperialists and of the local capitalism, PASOK, which is the party that supported the shame of EMU, the Olympics of shame, the great theft through the stock fraud, is preparing to take its position in government.
The revisionists, headed by the Khrushchevite traitors, the social-democrats of “K”KE, living away from the pain, the suffering and the anxieties of the working class have been transformed to a typical bourgeoisie electoral mechanism.
The revisionists try to prevent any uprising of the people, claim that the crisis "will pass quickly” and constantly act as a sedative on the working class. They are pleased that the other revisionists die sooner. They observe the dissolution of SYRIZA, which has the same general directions with them, and they do not care about anything that could consist a defensive struggle of the working class to defend its interests. But they are well known: they are social-democratic leaders who denounced the youth uprising in December and supported the police. They are the same people who denounced the heroic uprising of November '73 against the fascist dictatorship, who constantly act against the popular masses rage. They have been, all these years, the permanent lackeys of the reactionary Karamanlis government.
The Marxists-Leninists-Stalinists do not have as a principle to abstain from the participation in bourgeoisie parliamentary procedures although these procedures are considered of secondary importance for the revolutionary class struggle of the proletariat. That would be obviously a childish leftist mistake.
The revolutionary communists are involved in the political activity which is more extensive during any pre-election period. They highlight the policy and priorities for the working class and the revolutionary communist movement. They don’t participate in the elections, when they don’t have the subjective capability to do it. They don’t pretend to be the Party if they are not. The Greek revolutionary communists consider that it would be wrong in this phase (as it did not previously) to participate in the elections as one more separate group. This is not so much because of subjective weakness but first and foremost because of the lack of unity of the anti-fascist and anti-imperialist forces and the continued split with the participation of various groups in the parliamentary elections as separate political formations. This unity is completely necessary condition for a considerable concentration of forces in anti-fascist and anti-imperialist direction in order to fight against fascist transformation of society, nationalism-chauvinism and racism-military adventurism in the capitalist and imperialist EU and all the imperialist powers in general, with the U.S. first.
The individual participation in the parliamentary elections not only offers nothing, because no one gathers measurable political power, but also is extremely damaging because it keeps and perpetuates the split of the anti-fascist and anti-imperialist forces.
The revolutionary communists, however, have to struggle according to the priorities of the class struggle and to call for a united struggle:

For the massive disapproval at the elections of any political power that serves or does not respond militantly and effectively to the exploitative capitalist system.

For the militant response through mass struggles which will have as cutting edge the first degree unions and their strengthening, in alliance with the poor peasants, our immigrant brothers, our militant youth, against poverty and misery, hunger, unemployment, fascist transformation of society, fascist pogroms, attack on labour rights, further selling off of public property, assault on public education and university asylum, environmental destruction, engaging in war adventurism.

Editorial: Let us commit ourselves to the new fatherland and socialism

At the close of the electoral campaign, everything leads us to conclude that on April 26 the democratic, progressive and left-wing tendency will win a new political victory, the people will ratify their desire for change and will defend the gains won in the preceding months, particularly those established in the new Constitution.

This short campaign has been scene of ideological and political confrontation between the progressive and left-wing forces and those of the right-wing and opportunism. The latter, trying to reverse the current political process, have unsuccessfully tried to convince the people of the need to return to the neoliberal past and to vote for personalities who, directly and personally, are responsible for the disaster of the preceding years. Among these are Lucio Gutierrez, Alvaro Noboa, Carlos Gonzalez, Diego Ordoñez, Nicolas Lapenti and many other bourgeois politicians.

The right-wing, supported by their large mass media, has carried out a unified response that makes the government responsible for the economic crisis, for the increase in “insecurity of citizens”, for the supposed governmental ties with what they call narco-politics and also for its supposed interest in getting out of the dollarization [the U.S. dollar was made the official currency of Ecuador starting in 2000 – translator’s note]. The distortion, exaggeration and lies have been weapons which the bourgeoisie has traditionally resorted to in order to deceive the people and this occasion is no exception.

The sure victory that the democratic and left-wing tendency will win does not mean that our people will give a blank check, particularly to Rafael Correa and PAIS [party of President Correa – translator’s note]. The criticisms of the government coming from the ranks of the popular sectors are varied and in many cases harsh; Rafael Correa must recognize that he has taken some steps but he could not do everything possible in these two years and more; but mainly he must understand that in several aspects he has also made errors that must be rectified. Our people will give Correa a second chance, with the hope of advancing further, that the material needs of the workers and peoples are taken care of in a better way and that the privileges of the ruling classes are affected more forcefully.

The people are going to the ballot boxes with the experience of the Constituent Assembly, in which the weaknesses of some assembly members of PAIS have put the approval of important gains at risk. Were it not for the presence of the revolutionary left bloc (the bloc of the MPD), aspects such as free education at all levels, the continuation of the Peasants Social Security at the IESS [Ecuadorean Institute of Social Security – translator’s note] or the elimination of the intermediation and tertierization of labor would not have been approved. Therefore, to guarantee that the democratic constitutional rules are transformed into specific laws, to guarantee that change is maintained and advances to new levels, it is necessary that the representatives of the revolutionary left grouped in the Lists 15 of the MPD be represented in the National Assembly, in the municipal councils, the mayoralties and prefectures.

To vote for the Lists 15 of the MPD is a revolutionary action, it is to commit oneself to the new fatherland and socialism.

EMEP: A new period for labourers and the Kurds

The results of local elections, reflecting the ambience of a general election, denote a sign of new happenings in our country in the forthcoming process. The clearest indication of this is that AKP (Justice and Development Party) and the Prime Minister, who is very ambitious of being unique party, has been declining and loosing the support of people.

The Prime Minister and his party tried to turn the local elections into a referendum of AKP politics and conducted such an election campaign; but they lost in many cities and had a decrease of 9 points of its votes. So it was bitterly slapped by people. Electors changed their preferences suggesting the end of AKP power after 7 years. The elections showed that, on one side, the workers and labourers, suffering the crisis and social politics of AKP, and, on the other side, the Kurdish people, whose demands had been ignored, have started to get away from of AKP.

As for the bourgeois opposition represented by CHP (Republican People’s Party) and MHP (Nationalist Movement Party), whose politics are away from the interests of people, could not benefit from these elections substantially in spite of the favourable conditions. They got an increase of 2-3 % in Ankara and Istanbul just due to the characteristics of the candidates. The Prime Minister had made a statement before the elections “we compete with ourselves”. Therefore this statement was verified, that is to say, being away from people. It is once more worth seeing the frustration and weakness of opposition before the decrepit power.

AKP made efforts to crash DTP in the cities of region, but DTP became the first party making clear that DTP is the real representative and showing the preference of the Kurdish people. This is one of the most important results of the local elections. This also reveals that demands and preferences of people must be taken into consideration on the Kurdish Question, which is in need of an urgent solution. People’s locals were maintained in Diyarbakır and Tunceli, which were aimed by AKP and play an important part in the Kurdish History. This is a success before the power. Especially, our party made an effort for the continuation of DTP´s management by not running a candidate in Tunceli. This showed how responsibly and consistently our party acted.

The challenges and the policy of our party, established by its foresights, were verified. In our party approach to elections it was not the candidates who stuck out but the forces of people who came together and made a move. The results of elections point out that this approach was fundamental.

Labourers, who will become more impoverished by the crisis and the exploitative system, and the Kurdish reduced to deadlock, in a word, all people point to the unity of labour and democratic forces against the parties who are the conductors of this rotten system.

Our party and people forces will get ready for the next thorny period by taking lessons from the elections. Together will make the gear-wheel of labour, democracy and peace turn fast by discarding the broken cogs of rentier and interest.

“Independent Candidates”, Supported by Democracy Forces Entered the Parliament

The general elections in Turkey, which were brought forward because of the crisis in Presidency elections, were held in 22th July.

Because of the 10 percent national threshold, our Party (EMEP) and its allies participated in the elections with “independent candidates”.

The allience of DTP (Democratic Society Party), EMEP (Labour Party), SDP (Socialist Democracy Party), some left-wing groups and organisations, intellectiuals and trade unionists supported 60 independent candidates.

Elections were done under antidemocratic and unequal conditions. While the media propagandised the neoliberal bourgeois parties, they ignored the independent candidates. Also, armed forces prevented the election campaigns of independent candidates. But despite these, 23 independent candidates entered the Parliament. This number is enough to make a group in the Parliament. Our General President Levent Tuzel was also “independent candidate” from Izmir, he got 37 thousand votes but it wasn't enough to enter the Parliament.

After the elections, the three parties those entered the Parliament are: AKP (Justice and Development Party, a liberal party which is collaborator of imperialists) with 340 seats, CHP (Republican People's Party, this party edged towards right gradually, cooperate with putschist generals) wih 112 seats and MHP (Nationalist Movement Party, a fascist party) with 70 seats. All these three parties support the neoliberal economical policies. But AKP follows a moderate Islamic line and the other two follow a nationalist line.

Also an other important point of these elections is the entrance of the “independent candidates” who were supported by Labour, Peace and Democracy Forces. It can be evaluated as an important change at the Parliament. Of course it's important to enter the Parliament again, after 15 deputies of TIP (Workers Party of Turkey) in 1965 and deputies from DEP (Democratic Labour Party) who entered the Parliament 13 years ago and arrested because of taking oath in Kurdish.

The “independent candidates” will have a group in the Parliament and they will defense the human rights such as the democratic solution for Kurdish problem, and the freedom of expression and organisation and the rights of workers and labourers. Also they will struggle with the neoliberal policies of AKP.

Resounding Victory of the People and the Left

Editorial of the weekly En Marcha, number 1355, organ of the Marxist-Leninist Communist Party of Ecuador

The victory of the YES was crushing; 78% of Ecuadorians expressed their desire for change by opening the way to calling the National Constituent Assembly, which will now become the objective over which the various popular and political organizations will act.

Together with this victory of the workers and peoples of Ecuador, of the parties of the left and other emocratic and progressive forces that waged the campaign in favor of the Yes, came the defeat of the right represented by the Christian Democratic Union, the Christian Social Party, Patriotic Society and the PRIAN, by the Chambers of Commerce and big communications media such as Teleamazonas, Telecentro, Gamavision, El Comercio and El Universo, who waged a widespread and aggressive anti-communist campaign. The right hoped at least, to win 20 to 25% of the votes in favor of the NO, in order to claim "victory" to minimize the legitimacy of calling the Constituent Assembly. Now, they cynically claim that they do not feel defeated and that they are part of the forces interested in change.

The people voted to put end to a Constitution that makes neo-liberalism the official "model of development"; but as soon as the results were known, the right said that it was necessary to reach a consensus among all the social and political sectors of the country to draft a Constitution that will take into account everyone's opinions, that is, that maintains the conceptions and juridical scaffold that defends the economic and political interests of the bourgeoisie and imperialism.

There can be no agreement or consensus with the bourgeoisie and the representatives of imperialism; the people have fought for change and now want the Constituent Assembly to draw up a political Charter that will create the conditions that will introduce profound transformations in Ecuador. Of course, for this to occur, the left-wing, progressive and democratic forces should form the majority representation in the Constituent Assembly and block the road to the right wing that also wants to have its representatives in the Assembly. The structure of unity lists, that will unite representatives of the movements, parties and organizations of the tendency that is fighting for social change, is fundamental. It would be a serious error if, with the crushing victory of the Yes, exclusivist positions would arise that underestimate the importance and force of unity, and that would fragment those who should march and act in unity in the next electoral contest and in the Assembly itself. We must face the right-wing united, and not think that the defeat they have now suffered means their final burial.
